WHAT IS ART LICENSING?
Licensing allows you to purchase a non-exclusive license to make and sell limited or unlimited finished goods from the artwork/pattern of your choice.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Pricing is dependent on the complexity of design, the exclusivity of the design to your industry, and how many products/variety of products you plan to produce.
WILL MY CONTRACT BE EXCLUSIVE?
Maybe. I provide both exclusive and non-exclusive licensing. Part of this depends on if the pattern or design is part of my existing catalog or if the design is custom for the client.
WHO WILL HAVE OWNERSHIP OF THE ARTWORK?
Sam Ann Designs retains all copyright and ownership of the artwork and all derivative works at all times.
DO I NEED TO CREDIT SAM ANN DESIGNS AS THE ARTIST?
While credit is not required, it is certainly appreciated. I’d love to be tagged in your product photos on Instagram!
WHAT IS THE CONTRACT LENGTH?
Contract terms are negotiated but are typically 2 years.
WILL I HAVE TO PAY ROYALTIES ON ITEMS I SELL?
No. A flat fee upfront is required to license the artwork.
MAY I MODIFY THE ART THAT I LICENSE?
Unless the prior written approval of Sam Ann Designs is obtained, the Licensee may not modify or change the artwork in any manner.
CAN SAM ANN DESIGNS MODIFY EXISTED PATTERNS?
Probably. We can discuss background color changes and other minor edits to existing patterns. If you would like a very different design to one you see or a totally new idea please fill out the custom design request form.
WHAT WILL I RECEIVE (ART FORMAT)?
Licensee will receive final art in a locked .jpeg file format using RGB color space. Please contact your printer prior to purchase and confirm they are able to print with this type of file format. Flattened .ai files may be available for certain patterns.
HOW DO I LICENSE THE ARTWORK?
